HAWAII 2016: Day 1: Cleveland to Chicago

January 12, 2016
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport -- breakfast and potty break
Lisa: Many of you have inquired how Alia did on our trip from Cleveland, Ohio to Honolulu, Hawaii.  Well she was intrigued with her new harness seat belt for all of 2 minutes.  We praised her for being a big girl since she was using the seat belt like Mommy and Daddy but she wasn't having it.  She screamed during takeoff and landing when we had her strapped in.  She didn't even want to sit on our laps.
She was super tired since we let her round around the airport.  She fought falling to sleep and was curious about everything and everyone around her.
It was a very long and loud 2 hour trip. Bye bye snowy Ohio!

HAWAII 2016: Day 1: Chicago to Los Angeles

January 12, 2016
 Hello Chicago International Airport!
There were snow on the ground here as well
Lisa: On our next plane ride to Los Angeles, I suggested to Aaron that we not go into the plane early with our priority seating.  That cut down the wait time to strap her in tremendously.  It was also her bedtime so she fell asleep in 20 minutes.  And so did we!

What would Alia do without her milk and Harry Potter?
We flew over the Rocky Mountains

HAWAII 2016: Evening1: Los Angeles to Honolulu

January 12, 2016

Running around Los Angeles International Airport
Lisa: During our last leg of the trip to Honolulu, Alia took 20 minutes to fall asleep. Aaron slept pretty much the whole way too.  Me, not so much.
Alia did wake up an hour before landing.  She played on her seat and on the floor.

 Lisa: We're here, Alia! Alia?

HAWAII 2016: Day 2: Oahu

January 13, 2016

Dear Tutu,

I had a rough morning because I got up at around 1 a.m. (6 a.m. EST and my time to wake up for school) and wanted to play.  Daddy and Mommy were tired and didn't want to play with me.  I cried and fussed until I went back to sleep at 7 a.m. when the hot sun came out.

Hanging out at Aunty Lureen's guest house
First on our agenda... getting Daddy some coffee and Mommy some food.  I already had my milk and toast with peanut butter.  Let's go to Zippy's!

Daddy had a full breakfast with a side of Portuguese Sausage.  Ono!
Mom had a Zip Pac.  Her spam and teri beef was ono too. Time for the beach!

What is this under my feet?

In the Pacific Ocean at Ala Moana Beach Park

On our way to the Ala Moana Center for a quick snack and some shopping

I fell asleep while Daddy went on a major shopping spree. Mom sat with me in the shade and caught up with her emails.

Love, Alia

HAWAII 2016: Evening 2: Oahu

January 13, 2016
We are getting some local grinds on!  We went to the Highway Inn for the first time and loved it!  I flirted with all the restaurant workers and a couple of customers.

Daddy had the kalua pig platter while Mommy had hamburger steak with mac salad.

The restaurant was clean and spacious and the atmosphere was laid back.  They didn't mind my running around and screams of delight.  Uncle David surprised us and had a few beers with Daddy, hanging out with us.

We rushed home to take quick showers and got ready to meet Aunty Shanlee and my cousins at the Shokudo Restaurant on Kapiolani Blvd.

My first cousins Emelia and Ethyn -- they are great artists, doodling in their sketch books while waiting for our dinner. Unfortunately I slept through dinner and didn't get to officially meet my cousins.

Everyone had an array of pupus to eat -- Edamame, Yukari french fries, chicken katsu, steamed rice, char-siu pork (Mommy's pick), and lobster dynamite (Daddy's choice).  What? No ramen or sushi?  Mommy wasn't really hungry.

Daddy was happy to finally try the honey toast everyone in our family posts on social media.  We tried the cinnamon and the oreo cookie & cream -- both came with Japanese toast drizzled with honey and topped with vanilla ice cream.  Ono!

HAWAII 2016: Day 3: Oahu

January 14, 2016

Another morning struggling with the time change for all of us.  But we managed to get ready for the day.
We picked up Aunty Shanlee in Kaimuki and drive to the other side of the island for brunch at Cinnamon's in Kailua.  My cousins are in school right now.
The restaurant was busy and now we know why!
Kona coffee, guava chiffon pancakes with coconut syrup and a side of Portuguese sausage and a loco moco.  Ono!
Since we were on this side of the island we took advantage and visited the famous Lanikai Beach.  I loved playing in the fine sand and running after the tide.

HAWAII 2016: Evening 3: Oahu

January 14, 2016

We had dinner with Mom's college best friend Aunty Kelly at Liliha Bakery on Nimitz Highway.  It was so nice of her to take time out of her busy schedule to meet me.
When we got home, we went over to Aunty Lureen's house to hang out with her, Uncle Mike, Sydney and Sara.  Oh and Snowflake the yellow lab too.
