HAWAII 2016: Evening 2: Oahu

January 13, 2016
We are getting some local grinds on!  We went to the Highway Inn for the first time and loved it!  I flirted with all the restaurant workers and a couple of customers.

Daddy had the kalua pig platter while Mommy had hamburger steak with mac salad.

The restaurant was clean and spacious and the atmosphere was laid back.  They didn't mind my running around and screams of delight.  Uncle David surprised us and had a few beers with Daddy, hanging out with us.

We rushed home to take quick showers and got ready to meet Aunty Shanlee and my cousins at the Shokudo Restaurant on Kapiolani Blvd.

My first cousins Emelia and Ethyn -- they are great artists, doodling in their sketch books while waiting for our dinner. Unfortunately I slept through dinner and didn't get to officially meet my cousins.

Everyone had an array of pupus to eat -- Edamame, Yukari french fries, chicken katsu, steamed rice, char-siu pork (Mommy's pick), and lobster dynamite (Daddy's choice).  What? No ramen or sushi?  Mommy wasn't really hungry.

Daddy was happy to finally try the honey toast everyone in our family posts on social media.  We tried the cinnamon and the oreo cookie & cream -- both came with Japanese toast drizzled with honey and topped with vanilla ice cream.  Ono!
